Man charged with double murder after 14 years on the run
After more than 14 years on the run, a 41-year-old labourer from the Middle Quarters District in St Elizabeth has been charged with double murder in connection with a deadly 2011 attack that left two young men dead and a woman injured.
Andre Daniels has been charged by the St Elizabeth police in relation to the fatal shooting of Andrew Grey, 24, and Dave Davis, 19, both residents of Middle Quarters. The incident occurred about 8:00 p.m. on June 9, 2011, along Jarrett Lane in the community.
According to the police, a female occupant of the house where the attack took place was also injured during the incident.
Investigators say Daniels evaded law enforcement for more than a decade but was finally apprehended during a targeted operation carried out by the Manchester Division on December 16, 2025. He has since been charged with two counts of murder, wounding with intent, illegal possession of a firearm, illegal possession of ammunition, and assault at common law.
Head of the St Elizabeth Police Division, Superintendent Coleridge Minto, commended investigators for their persistence in bringing the long-running case to a close.
"I want to commend the members of the St Elizabeth Criminal Investigation Branch for their diligent work on this investigation, which has now led to charges being laid," Minto said. He also praised the Manchester Division for its role in the arrest, citing their "co-ordinated operational efforts in apprehending this individual."
Superintendent Minto used the development to issue a stern warning to criminals who believe time can shield them from justice.
"Persons who engage in criminal activities must understand that there is no statute of limitations on crime," he said. "No matter how much time has passed, offenders will be held accountable for their actions."
He added that the police remain committed to pursuing unresolved cases and ensuring justice for victims and their families.
The arrest has brought renewed attention to one of Middle Quarters' most tragic crimes, which claimed the lives of two young men and left lasting emotional scars on the community. Police say investigations into cold cases are ongoing as efforts continue to track down individuals who believe they have escaped the reach of the law.
