172 new COVID cases, four more deaths

Jamaica on Sunday recorded 172 new COVID-19 cases from 1,339 samples tested, increasing total confirmed cases to 88,431 with 28,888 being active.

The country's positivity rate is currently 14.7%.

Of the new cases, 75 are men and 97 are women with ages ranging from nine months to 95 years.

Meanwhile, four more Jamaicans have died as a result of COVID-19, pushing the death tally to 2,183. 

The fatalities which occurred between October 19-22 include, an 85-year-old man from Kingston and St Andrew, a 73-year-old woman from Portland and a 46-year-old man and a 58-year-old woman both from St. Elizabeth.

In the meantime, there were 172 more recoveries, bringing that total to 56,761.

Some 334 persons are in hospital with 63 being moderately ill, 37 severley ill and 22 critically ill.
