Ascot High school student murdered
Grief counsellors were dispatched to the Ascot High School in Portmore, St Catherine this morning to offer sessions to staff and students following the murder of Jahiem Palmer, a grade 10 student at the institution.
The 15-year-old was killed by thugs in his community of Phoenix Park last in what residents say was a case of mistaken identity.
Stellavit Ingram, principal of Ascot High, described the youngster as a fun-loving young man.
"Jahiem was a very jovial student. He was a good performing arts student and was very much involved in dance and music. He had a very good relationship with his teachers and peers and his death is not something that we will ever come to terms with. He was a very promising young man and was involved in the police youth club ... It is very difficult for the school at this time," he told THE STAR.
The teenager's aunt, Keneisha Clarke, could hardly contain her tears.
"He was a really nice boy. Yesterday, mi get a call say shot a fire in the area and when mi reach home mi shock to see mi nephew lay down with about seven shot in a him," she wailed.
